RE: Helper springs and weight increase?

if adding a leaf spring doesn't change anything, why on earth would a 1T diesel Ram be any better than a 3/4T? Both the exact same vehicle, only difference is that one added leaf spring.
You peeps are so funny sometimes.

RE: Looking for New Quad Bunks 5th Wheelers

we didn't get the mountaineer cause we didn't like the 1/2 potty door opening right at the dinette table. Kind of icky.

RE: Fiver without bunks for kids. Yes or No ?

Everyone has different needs/wants so it's hard to say yes or no for such a personal choice.
For us? No. That's why we got a 5th w/ 5 slides, two of them being in the bunkhouse. They have their own room and with three kids, and their friends, it's great that they can all just go hang in there when it starts getting too dark out (coyotes and such) so DH and I can play crib/backgammon at the dinette. They can sleep in or not and I don't have to contend with making their beds and moving their stuff first thing in the am.
Our last TT had a twin bunk over a double bed but the little guy liked sleeping on the jack knife sofa and I hated having the sleeping area encroach on our communal living space.
Sure, we're outside most of the time, but cram 5-8 people and a dog in a camper and having some separation is nice. Some hang out in the bunkhouse, some at the dinette and sofa and then DH and I sneak up to our own room. IT works for us and every single time we camp in it, I realize just how much I love it and how perfect it is *for us*.

RE: Should We Skip TT and go 5'er?

when we got into camping we went right to a 32' TT. Less than 1.5 years later we bought a 38' fifth wheel. While the TT wasn't small by any stretch of the imagination, it was significantly cheaper than the unit we are in now and we learned a lot about what we liked, didn't like and what we wanted the next time around.
We like the amenities that a fifth affords that even the best laid out TT never could like the higher ceilings. It makes any space feel larger which means a lot when we have pets, kiddoes and their friends with us.

RE: Looking for bath and a half with bunks floorplan.

we have the silverback 36L5S.
Five slides, 3 bunks and a jack knife sofa in the bunk room. 2nd door access from exterior to the 1/2 bath in their bunkroom.
I like that the bh is in the rear with their own bathroom. They don't need to come up to our bathroom unless they need to bathe. No privacy issues. It also has a side "hall" up to the master instead of a centre hall like many fivers so the master is one huge room with tons of space.
What we liked about this one over the mountaineer similar version is that the door to the 1/2 bath is in the bh and then there is the 2nd exterior door for quick roadtrip pitstops. The mountaineer had a door to the bh and to the dinette area. Who wants a potty right there next to your dining table?
Not me.
The central vac in the silverback is quite handy, as well.

RE: fiver length info

for parks I give actual length as I want us to be able to fit into whatever spot they give us which can only be based upon the number we give them.

RE: Can you shred these for me please?

the front bunkhouse on the Wildcat is pretty cramped. The shower is also at the front with the bunkhouse, between the bunks and the main living area. So either you shower when the kiddoes are out or you trust them not to walk in on you.
There is the option for the 2nd 1/2 bath at the rear but so many rvs have a second bath now, it doesn't make the WC a unique draw anymore.
So much is personal preference. We totally decided against Jayco and Wildcat and went with a CC Silverback instead. To each their own. We all have different needs, wants, limitations and budgets!

RE: Video link: Someone didn't watch their clearance!

It's what happens when a building is poorly constructed, too. Holy heck, it would appear as if the columns were not actually braced to the roof in an fashion. Scary.

RE: Would you tow this camper??????

the only difference between our 2500 dodge diesel and a 3500 is one leaf spring. Everything else is the same and one can alway add a spring and airbags. It makes me chuckle when folks act as if they are completely different vehicles.

RE: interested on a 5th wheel... not sure.. help

we were considering this model and it was down to it and the one we ended up going with. We loved the rear bunkhouse on the Mountaineer and the second bath. What we didn't like was how the second bath opened up, essentially, onto the dinette area. This was probably the one point that DH just couldn't get past. I also didn't like how it didn't have access to the exterior from the half-bath (half the reason to have a second bath - kids don't need to traipse in and out just to go potty).
The unit we ended up going with just suited us better. We knew what we wanted and went with the one that had most of it. That's what you need to figure out.
Sit down and list the things that are important to YOU. What will make camping that much more enjoyable for you? Our first unit was a TT and it rapidly showed me what I liked and didn't like and what worked and didn't work for *us*.

RE: Pick up the new 5er tomorrow...getting nervous

The lot DH had to pull our fiver out of was right off a super-busy 3 lane road and he had to do it in the middle of rush hour. Poor guy was sweating bullets (towed TT but a fiver is a whole diff ball of wax. Despite claim of being 'easier' the turn radius is completely different and takes a little practice.) He did just fine and I'm sure yours will, too. Go slow.

RE: Decisions, Decisions

We decided on the CC because of the 2nd door off the kids' bathroom. Plus, we weren't thrilled about having a door from the bathroom opening to the dining table. For what it is worth, we really like our CC!

Contact # for Forest River - extended warranty

I can't for the life of me find a number to call Forest River. We sent in the money to extend the warranty for an extra year, but our cheque was never cashed and we never got any confirmation (clearly since the cheque was never cashed). And it says it can only be extended if sent in w/in 10 days of purchase....
Does anyone have a number? Nothing on their website or on the form I filled out. Just a mailing address.
TIA.

RE: Having second thoughts

we spent about $350 on diesel going to CA and back. WE also spent aoubt $350 on the campground. Still way cheaper than when we used to go for the weekend and stayed in a hotel.
